I have dealt with tangles my entire life, no matter what product I use, my mom was a beautician and would buy professional "De-Tangler" and even that wasn't helping. I have tried many different De-tangler combs, brushes, sprays, creams, you name it I've probably tried it, and tried it more than once.
One day I was at my local Dollar Tree, browsing the isles, I was in the Hair care isle, I was in need of a new brush anyway, and just looking to see what they carried, I didn't want to go get one at the normal stores I get them at, but I typically can only use a particular kind, other wise it rips out my hair (even with out tangles), and with having a thyroid condition, I have enough hair falling out on its own I really don't need to help that process any. My go to brush has always been the black plastic bristle brushes with the tips (similar to a bobby pin) and when you push down on the bristles a little air "gasps" out - I am unsure if these brushes have a technical term but it's a cushion of sorts. I'm unable to use the older style hard bristle brushes, or anything w/out that cushion or those tips.
As I was browsing, I saw they had some that said "De-tangle Brush" hanging there I looked, and I pondered, I told my boyfriend man that looks like it'll hurt, he grabs on off and pushes on it, it doesn't "Gasp" for air - I'm like uh- yeah that's going to hurt my scalp and rip out my hair it's rough and doesn't look very appealing .. His response was " Try it, it's $1 if you can't use it, give it to one of the kids" (this is how he talks me out of buying stuff LOL)
This is what they look like packaged (I've had mine for about 2 years now so I didn't have the packaging any more)

I do not know if these are sold at other department stores, I know they can be bought online through Dollar Tree's website (by the case) so they maybe sold online by Ebay Re Sellers or Amazon Re sellers but keep in mind at the dollar tree they are only $1.00!!
They came in a couple different colors at my store - I chose Orange

Got home, that night I took a shower, I didn't have my normal conditioner (There is 1 type I can use and I can actually brush my hair when it's wet - and that is Aussie 3 minute Miracle Conditioner) without it, my hair is like straw and I rip hair out trying to get the tangles out no matter how easily I run the brush, pick, or wide tooth comb through it!
So I batted down the hatches, I knew this was going to be a disaster, it was going to hurt, it was going to rip out my hair, It was going to be a horrifying experience just to brush my hair!
NONE of that happened! I had not a single issue! It slid through my hair like butter, at the ends where the knots were bad I did have to brush several times, and it does sound like the hair is being ripped out of your head but it really isn't, it's just a rough sounding brush, Doesn't matter if I use it on dry hair or wet hair I have no problems, Which amazed me my entire life I've had to wet my hair or at least my brush before I can start brushing my hair. I grew up with Naturally curly hair, as I've gotten older it's a mix of some wave some straight, I honestly don't know what to call it, But I know after I brush it all out, when it's wet, put my head down, flip my hair so I can run my fingers through all of it, to make sure I got all the tangles when I stand back up, It looks like I just got a Perm! but that only lasts until it starts to try then it turns into " Oh look she stuck her finger in a light socket again" look :-)
I instantly fell in love with this hair brush - I'm not a typical Female, I don't get all into girly stuff, I don't fall in love with hair brushes! Normally anyway :-), I however, loved this brush so much I told my boyfriend I had to go get another one, he said why? I said For your mother! We'd had a conversation a few days before, and she was having issues getting her tangles out, and It was either Mother's Day or her Birthday coming up, I said it's the perfect gift! You know how she is, She tells all of us "Do not by me anything, I don't want nothing, It'll just end up in 'that room' " - That room being a bedroom she shoves all the gifts in people keep buying her when she tells them not to buy her stuff. But I caught on to her rather quickly, Ya see, if you buy her something she will actually use, it won't ever go in "that room". Nothing we've ever bought her has gone into "that room" So We went the next day, got one, I grabbed a small gift bag while we were there and some tissue paper, and I wrapped it up, while he drove to his moms , I handed it to her, she gave me the typical look , I said You'll love it! I just bought one the other day, and fell in love with it, and had to get you one! She opened it and I explained how well it worked, and since her and I had just had the conversation several days prior to how we're battling tangles daily, I knew I had to get her one as well. She loves this brush! it sits on her table next to her recliner, she uses it daily!
So if you battle tangles yourself, with your little one, family or friends - This is the product for you, and it maybe the last one you ever have to try out! It works so well! And really for $1.00 you can't go wrong. Mine is just now starting to break off some of the plastic bristles, but like I said I've had it for like 2 years now if not longer, I use it more than once a day, my boyfriend even uses it and he has very little hair! , when my daughter still lived at home she used to it too! So it's been well loved! and about time to get a new one.
Keep in mind however, All dollar trees are different, and don't all have the same items, or at least not at the same time, so if You can't find it at your closest one, check some others out on your outings, or have a family member or friend look at their local one for you. Or you could buy an entire case on their website, and keep a few back, and gift the rest. I also believe you can exchange the rest in store for other items (Dollar Tree doesn't give refunds, but they do exchanges) Just check with your local dollar tree before doing that , I've never done it, Just read about others who have.
